the sultan abdul samad building

the sultan abdul samad building was build in 1894-1897. It was designed by A.C Norman who also designed Masjid Jamek with similar features. He was inspired to design this building with Moorish architecture when he spent his time in Africa. This building is a major landmark in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It witnessed many important and historical events such as the declaration of independence of Malaya, the lowering of Union Jack, the National Day Parade and the New Year celebration. Part of the building was damaged when Kuala Lumpur was hit by flood in 1971. It took six years of renovation to repair this heritage building. The clock tower is 40m high and on top of it is a shiny dome made from copper.
